Juliet L.

Friends Forever

“Kaitlyn!’’ dad yelled,  “It’s time to go.” “One minute dad, I’m putting on my perfume,” Kaitlyn screamed from upstairs. “Who’s driving me to camp?” Kaitlyn yipped.  “I am,” dad yowled.  Kaitlyn wished her mom was going to be able to take her, but she was taking her older brother to his camp for boys. “We have to go get Julie’s soon so we can load all of her gear in the car,” dad exclaimed.
Dad closed the door, locked it, and got in the car.  Since Julie is the next street over we got there pretty quickly. Kaitlyn and Julie were having so much fun so far. Next thing you know they were playing and singing, “Miss Mary Mac, Miss Mary Mac, Mac, Mac, all dressed in black, black, black, with silver buttons all down her back. She asked mother for 50 cents to see the elephants, elephants, elephants jump over the fence, fence, fence. They jumped so high, high, high. They reached the sky, sky, sky. And never came back, back, back...to the 4th of July...ly...ly.”
“We’re here,” dad stated. They parked, took out all six of the bags and walked to the camp area full of excitement.

Kaitlyn and Julie were excited when Kaitlyn’s dad dropped them off.  As they headed to their cabin, they met their leader, Christy.  She was 18 years old and had just finished her first year at college.  So far, she seemed really nice. She had blue eyes and  blonde hair.
“Come on girls,” Christy called, “So girls, what are your names?” Kaitlyn went first  because Christy knew Julie from last year.  So far, Kaitlyn really liked her.  Christy loves a lot of things that Kaitlyn loves.
They finally got to the arts and crafts center and they had so much fun. Kaitlyn made an elf, and Julie made a pig. Julie loved her pig.
Julie pretended that Kaitlyn’s elf owned the pig. Christy made a unicorn, then, they played a little with their crafts.  “Oh Mr. Elf!” Miss Unicorn yelled.  “I have no room for this pig in magical land of wonder. Would you like to have him Mr. Elf?”  “Why sure! But, show me his tricks before I agree. Okay, Mr. Pig?” Miss Unicorn yelled,  “Roll over.”  “Oink, oink,” said the pig.  “Roll over,”’ said Miss Unicorn. “Oink, oink oink,” said the pig. “That is his trick??? The only trick he does is ‘oinks”  “That’s okay Mr. Elf said, I’ll still take him!”  “Why thank you Miss Unicorn,”They got back to the camp area to set up their stuff.  Kaitlyn only had two bags full of things, but Julie had four full bags.  They each brought half of the tent; it was the newest kind of tent.  It had a big place to sleep in and a tube that connected to another room that kept their clothes and other stuff.  But, it was like the size of a whole entire bedroom.  They unpacked and took everything out of their suitcases and put their things in their places.  They had their own places.  Part of the space was Kaitlyn’s, part of the room was Julie’s, and the last part of the room was Christy’s.
Christy didn’t have so many things, but she had a good amount.  Kaitlyn brought her toothbrush and toothpaste she even brought bottled water.  Kaitlyn just realized she didn’t brush her teeth this morning because she was rushing so much.  She got her bottled water, toothbrush, and toothpaste and got to brushing.  They were finally settled.

“Come on girls! It’s our turn to get on the waterslide,” Christy exclaimed.  Kaitlyn and Julie were staring at a turtle and giggling because it was going so super slow.  They both ran up to Christy. “Christy, look!” Julie screamed, “Look at the turtle! Look at it!! It goes super slow.”  They all giggled, then they ran straight to the waterslide.  “Who’s going first?” Christy exclaimed excitedly.  “Not me,” shouted Kaitlyn. “Not me either,” giggled Julie.  “I guess you have to Christy,” Kaitlyn sang and they all giggled.
So Christy went down the waterslide first. “I don’t want to go down next,” they both said together. “Let’s do rock, paper, scissors, shoot... rock...paper...scissors...shoot.” Julie won so Kaitlyn had to go down before Julie.
Kaitlyn loved it so much she wouldn’t stop. Kaitlyn bounced back up as fast as she could before she went zooming down again and again.  Julie went next and she absolutely love it too! She wanted to go again with Kaitlyn. Then all three of them went down two more times. They got off and went back to the camp area to do something else.
They went straight to kayaking.  In fact, Julie ran. “Come on guys,”  Julie called from in front of  Christy and  Kaitlyn.  Shaking, Kaitlyn said, “I’m afraid to go kayaking, staring into Christy’s eyes. Christy exclaimed, “Kayaking isn’t so scary.”  So they went down to the  river and  put on their life  jackets on                                                      Kaitlyn  got into the kayak with Julie.  The  kayak started to wobble and tip.  Water splashed  Kaitlyn was shaking and her stomach started to hurt. She screamed, “Get me off of  the kayak!” Julie paddled straight back to land
Kaitlyn started crying, grabbed her phone, and went straight behind a tree.  She called 203-567-5946, which was her dad’s number. “Hello. Who is it?” “Hi daddy, it's me Kaitlyn  I want to come home.” “Sorry honey, I can’t, I’m driving to Florida.” “Okay daddy, I love you, bye!”

Kaitlyn’s eyes were full with tears. “I want to go home,” Kaitlyn said to Christy. “I know you're really scared and a little mad at Julie, but you can’t go home.”
“Come on girls,” Christy called to them, “It’s time to take a shower.” “Okay I’m coming,” Julie stated. “Oh by the way, Julie, can you get Kaitlyn?” Christy yelled outside so Julie could hear.  Julie called, “Kaitlyn come on it’s time to take our showers. Kaitlyn, where are you? Kaitlyn….” Kaitlyn still didn’t answer. Julie ran as fast as she could to tell Christy she couldn’t find Kaitlyn anywhere.
Christy ran outside, “Kaitlyn, where are you? It’s Christy.”  Kaitlyn came out with tears falling from her eyes.  “What’s the matter?” asked Christy. “Julie hurt my feelings and my stomach hurt,” explained Kaitlyn.  “Let’s get you inside to take a shower.”
Kaitlyn took off her swimsuit, turned on the shower, and went in. As soon as she was finished she got hot cocoa and got ready to do spooky stories with everyone else.
Julie started a spooky story first, “Once upon a time there was a girl who was missing.  The next day she came back home. At night she went inside to see her best friend’s house and everyone was missing. Where did all the children go?...”
“Come on girls, it’s time to get in your sleeping bags,”  “Okay,” they yelled from the campfire.  They had been having so much fun.
They finally got into bed and Kaitlyn yawned. She was so tired, she even fell right into her sleeping bag.  They were all ready to go to bed.  Christy really wanted to get a good night sleep for tomorrow because they were going on a field trip.  Christy didn’t want to miss it she looks forward to this day every year. It is always, well, pretty much the best day of the summer.
Julie woke up she was so excited to go on the field trip.  They were going in half an hour . Kaitlyn was still a little mad at Julie and Julie kept on trying to make Kaitlyn happy again.
They went inside and went to the room that’s the size of 17 elephants . Kaitlyn and Julie wanted two servings of hot cocoa and Christy only wanted one serving.  They each got two donuts that were delicious. They were on their way to the movies.  Together, they watched the movie Annie.

Kaitlyn wasn’t really mad at Julie anymore.  Kaitlyn and Julie apologized, hugged, and became best friends again.  Sometimes it just takes a little time before you realize how much a friend means.
