Origins (History) of Soccer

The game of soccer began in the middle 1800s in England.  By 1855,soccer clubs were beginning to be established.  Soccer gained popularity all through Europe.

Soccer made it to the United States in 1869.The very first teams to play in the U.S.A were both college teams Princeton and Rutgers.  Some people have said it was the first American football game.  But the game was really a soccer match. Soccer is known as football in a couple places just not in the USA. More than 240 million people around the world play soccer regularly according to the Federation Internationale Football Association.  The game has evolved from the sport of kicking a animal-hide ball around into the World Cup sport it is today.  Soccer is the most widely played and most watched team in the world.Hundreds of millions of fans follow it. Soccer is a game made for feet. Only the goalkeeper can use it’s hands.Or when it is a throw in,other then that ,you aren't allowed to use your hands. There are a lot of reasons why you shouldn't use your hands.  For example, you don't want to use your hands because you would be holding the ball the whole time.

Your friends, maybe some of your family members,and maybe you. In order to play soccer it doesn’t matter how small you are or how old you are,anyone can play.

Some famous people that play soccer are George Best, Lionel Messi, Pele and much much more. But like I said anyone can play soccer. I mean anyone!!!

What to know about soccer?

To play soccer you need to know all the positions and how to play them,what to wear,the rules,and were to play.

First the positions …

The first position is goalie it is a very important position because you save all the goals.It is one of the hardest.The ball can hit you anywhere so look out.

The next position is Defender it is the one in front of the goalkeeper so it stops it from going to the goalkeepers zone. If it does it will be a goal for the other team. I bet you don't want that to happen.

Then the midfielder,it is the one running around the field getting the ball from the other team and shooting.Its probably the most tiring position.

After that there is forward in forward you run around half of the field the only place where you don't run is near the goalie but you can still score a goal or 2.

The last position is lineman that means you are taking a break and you are not in the game at that time. But you will go in at one point.

Now that you know all the positions I will teach you how to play them. As you know there are 10 positions on a field (1)goalie (4) defenders (3) midfielders and (2) forwards.

To play the position of the goalkeeper  you are the only one allowed to use your hands in the game but you can use your feet if you want to. Most of the time people punt it and to do that you throw the ball up in the air and kick.

The defenders are the ones that make sure the ball doesn't go anywhere near the goal and then pass it up the field. If that happens they can make a great shot at the goal.

The midfielders would take that ball from the defenders and try to make that goal but they have to be fast at it.

The forward tries to score a goal like the midfielders.

Trying to decide which is home and which is visitor.I can help you out.Black is visitor and yellow is home.Those are the reguler colers, but you can have eny colers like blue or red it doesnt really matter.

There are lots of rules for soccer but the most important rule is don’t use your hands because that would give you a penalty and the other team would get the ball.

How to play soccer!

Soccer is very easy to play. All you need to do is kick the ball.There are certain ways to pass and kick the ball.The best passing technique is when you use the inside of your foot,and the best skill is the RAINBOW !!!! Here are some skills…

Playing the game

When you play the game soccer you have to kick the ball. But when you play the game against another team you have to really get into the game and play hard. If you play the game hard I bet you will win. Remember when you play soccer to do some of the skills in the chapter How to play soccer.  Also don't score on your own goal.

Remember don’t get a penalty !!!!

Team spirit

At the end of a game you should always have team spirit.You can show that by saying good game or forming a line and have your hand out ready to go down the line.  When you go down the line the other team will be on the

other side and so both hands will make a clapping sound.
