                 Book Review: Half Moon

Dear Ms. Whalen,

Right now I am reading a book titled Half Moon Investigations , by Eoin Colfer. I think you should read this book because it has a lot of action, many mysteries that sort of melt into one, and and it is written by a best-selling author. Want to learn more about this striking story? Read on!

Half Moon Investigations is a story that has lots of action! Some examples are when “Red” Sharkey and “Half Moon” Fletcher Moon take a mad dash to get away from Les Jeunes Etudiantes. That is  a group of 10-year old girls who are pretending to be pink fashionistas. They really are a bunch of strict girls (black is their color, makes sense)who have a dream of eliminating all boys from schools because they believe that it will improve their studies. It is quite funny though, considering that that the two boys were two years older than the girls. Also, this book was eventful when Half Moon was trying to escape from the hospital. Why, you ask? Well, he was being his own detective, so he was looking for clues to who might have clubbed him on the head (which was exactly the reason why he was at the hospital). Half Moon and Red, though unlikely partners, investigate many mysteries together.

This book has many mysteries. Who stole the pop star hair (and who would want such a thing?)? Who set May’s dance recital dress on fire? Who stole the DJ’s needles? Who clubbed poor Half Moon on the head? But if you notice, all the mysteries are related in way. I’ll leave it to you to figure it out. I would rate this book ✰✰✰✰✰ (5 stars) because Eoin Colfer described all the missing objects, as if he wanted us to join and help find the objects. He describes the characters and scenes with precise language. I could imagine how they looked like. No wonder Mr. Colfer is a well-known author.

Mr. Colfer is a best-selling author. This promotes the idea of reading this book. One book that he has written (other than this book) is called The Supernaturalist . He has also wrote the Artemis Fowl series. If you like this book, you have many more books to pick from. To be exact, Eoin Colfer has wrote about 27 books. He has wrote plays too! I would recommend all Mr. Colfer’s books to anyone who likes action and mysteries.

Half Moon Investigations is a book that hooks you to the story. There are many reasons for this book do that. Some of them are fast-paced action, a bunch of mysteries that sort of melt together to make on huge mystery, and it is written by a best-selling author! Next time you’re at the library, check out Half Moon Investigations and I’m sure everyone can agree that this book is a striking book.
