Chapter 1

The story of One Direction all started on the British version of the show X Factor in 2010. All of the boys were singers on the show. They all reached the semi finals of the X Factor as individuals, but none of them ended up making it to the finals. But, the judges thought that all of the boys would be good together as a group, especially the show’s creator, Simon Cowell.

As a group, they were the most popular with the viewers but placed third place in the finals. After the show they all decided that it would be a good idea to stay together as a band. At first, only England was familiar with the group, but the United States quickly heard about One Direction because of Simon Cowell’s efforts to market them and because of their appeal.  

They ended up with a lot of twitter followers which helped their popularity a lot.  The rest is history so to speak since they are now one of the most popular bands in the world.

Chapter 2

Liam James Payne was born on August 29, 1993. He is 22 years old. His hometown is Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England in the United Kingdom.  His nickname is Payno Daddy Direction.  He was on the X Factor in 2008 as well. He made the under 18 cross country team when he was just 12 years old.

Liam does things immediately. He is used to things being right on time and enjoys having a reputation of being prompt which is a very good quality. One story says that when his mom called him he would come right away not even 5 seconds later. He is a very funny, and kind.

Other characteristics of Liam is that he is funny backstage when One Direction is trying to get ready to go on stage. He is very kind to his family members and he loves to help out. He has 2 sisters,   Nicola Payne and Ruth Payne . His parents are  Geoff Payne and Karen Payne.

Chapter 3

Zayn Jawaad Malik was born on January 12 1993 . He is 22 years old . He was born in Bradford West Yorkshire, England . He was 17 when he was on the X Factor with the other four member of what would become his band.  He has one older sister whose name is Doniya and two younger sisters whose names are Waliyha and Safaa.  In 2013, he got engaged to Perrie Edwards who is also a singer from England. Zayn did not want to be in One Direction so, he quit the band.

Chapter 4

Harry Edward Styles was born on February 1, 1994.  Therefore, he recently turned 21 years old.  He was born in Redditch Worcestershire, England.  He notably dated Taylor Swift but then they broke up in 2013.  He loves animal print things such as clothes and other items.  Many of this fans think that he is good looking.

Other facts about Harry include that he has at least 10 tattoos.  He likes to play around backstage when they are performing on the road and is known and being a fun guy.

Chapter 5

Louis was born on December 24, 1991.  He has a special birthday of Christmas Eve.  He is 24 years old, and is the oldest member of the group.  His birth name is Louis Troy Austin.  But he changed his name to Louis William Tomlinson .  He was born in Doncaster Bessacarr, in South Yorkshire, England.  His parents are Johannah Poulston and Troy Austin.  

Other notable things about Louis are that he loves to play soccer and is an accomplished soccer player.  The instruments that is able to play includes guitar, piano, and keyboards.  His favorite color is dark red.  

Chapter 6

Niall James Horan  was born on September 13, 1993 and is 22 years old . He was born in Mullingar County, Westmeath, Ireland.  His father is Bobby Horan and his mother is Moira Horan.  His parents got divorced when we was only 5 years old.  He has an older brother named Greg.

Some interesting facts about Niall are that his favorite color is green and his favorite foods are Nendo’s Pizza and potatoes.  His favorite candy is Tasa Mamlouk which is an Irish candy. His nickname is Nialler which he got from his friends and family.  

In the X Factor, before he was with the other four members of his group, he sang the song “So Sick”.  Niall enjoys playing the guitar, both electric and acoustic.  He plays the guitar on some of the One Direction songs during their concerts. His Zodiac sign is a Virgo.  He is left-handed.  He is the only member of the band that was not born in England.  His favorite subject in school was geography.  He never went to any of his school proms.  He is the only member of the band without  tattoos. He is close with his family members as he often Skypes with them while he is on the road with One Direction.
