Excerpt from All About Soccer
Equipment You Need

People play soccer all around the world with just a ball and a makeshift goal.  For example, in Ghana two old shoes will do just fine for a goal. If you watch a professional game of  soccer on TV then you will notice they use much more equipment to play the game. You could play indoor soccer or outdoor soccer. Both of them are really fun. You need two goals on each half of the field. The younger kids usually have smaller goals than professional players and older kids. The younger kids ages are usually ages 2-5 with small goals. Ages 6-11 are medium goals. Ages 12-16 are usually a little bit bigger than medium goals. And ages 17- and up are usually large goals. You need a field, the minimum field is 90 meters and the longest is 120 meters {The 120 are usually for professional players and the smaller fields are usually for the younger kids.} You also need 3 referees. One of them is on the field watching the game. And the other two are on the sidelines watching for offsides and I call them the backup referees. But they are really called linesmen. Also, to play soccer you need 2 teams. How can’t you play without 2 teams? You need a ball to play soccer too. The size really matters. The ages 2-6 have size 3. Ages 7-14 use size 4.  And ages 15-and up  use size 5. Most balls are made of leather. You also need shin guards. Those go on your shins. They also go under your sock. They protect your shins from being kicked and getting bruises and injuries. Injuries are when you get hurt. That’s the equipment you need for soccer.

*If you didn’t have all that equipment then you can’t play soccer

a soccer goal, and stadium
