Excerpt from Swimming

Introduction

Are you are a person who loves to take a dip in the pool? If you are then you might want to try to swim.  In this book you will learn to start on a diving block, to in the water, all the strokes in the water, and all the equipment you will need.

Strokes

Here are the strokes in swimming. Strokes are things that make you go fast and move and go somewhere not just sit there. The first stroke is Butterfly. To swim Butterfly you put your arms over your head  and you stretch out your arms you do two of them and then you breath. The kick is where you do two feet at a time right next to each other and move them up and down. The kick is called Butterfly kick or Dolphin kick. The next stroke is Backstroke. In Backstroke you are on your back and you put one arm back behind you back into the water then you do the next arm in the water and you keep doing that. The kick is just up and down still on your back.   When you do the kick you get your legs a little bit out of the water and you kick really hard. When you do the kick and the stroke for every thing you still stay on your back. If you were In a race competing you would be disqualified. If you are disqualified that means your time won't be there.  You always still stay on your back. The next stroke is Breaststroke. To do Breaststroke you are on your stomach. You do a kick where you do a circle shape with your legs at the same time. With your arms you do a small circle shape but you still have to see your arms when you do the small circle.  In I.M order the last stroke is Freestyle. In Freestyle you are on you stomach. Freestyle is the main stroke. To do Freestyle you put one arm over your head and put it back into the water smoothly and should only make a little splash. The kick is just up and down just like In Backstroke but you in Freestyle you have to stay on your stomach. In Freestyle you take 3 strokes then you breath. Swimming Jeff Hardy.jpg
