                                                            November 24, 1689
Dear Diary,
Good day! My name is Lazarus White. I am 11. Let me introduce my family.  My Dad’s name is Alden, my Mom’s is Henrietta, my brother’s is Bartholomew, and my sister’s is Temperance.

Today I helped my Pa cast some iron bars so he could work on making axes to sell. My Pa is a blacksmith so he needs all the iron he can get (1.Yale.edu) . Our house is five rooms. Three are bedrooms and one is our living room with a big hearth (2.Yale.edu). We have diamond shaped windows made out of paper (3.Yale.edu). The last room is our blacksmith shop where my dad works. I have to share a room with my little brother. His name is Bartholomew. He is seven. Since he is the younger kid, he gets two pillowberes and I only get one. Our bed is small so I have to sleep arsy varsy.
Let me describe myself. I have turquoise eyes and chestnut-colored hair. I enjoy climbing trees (4.If You Lived in Colonial Times) and hate school. My family lives in the colony Connecticut. My family moved to Connecticut to start a new life (5, The Connecticut Colony). We live in a town called Redding Ridge. Around here people farm and log trees. The land has small hills and rivers. (6 .Connecticut by Anne Welsbacher).
I have to go now, I have a long day of chopping wood and carrying it a long way home (7. IYLICT) before the snow comes so our house will be warm during the cold months that await us soon.
Pray remember me,

Lazarus
