Zoey Makes a Friend

“I’m going to get some food,” I say. “So am I,” my sister tells me. We walk in the kitchen and my 130 pound Leonberger almost breaks the door down with her head. She walks towards us with something dark brown just like a grizzly bear, but smaller in her mouth. Emma and I scream! “AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!” My mom, dad, aunt, and brother all come rushing in the kitchen! My aunt screams and runs back into the room with her tv. Jumping up on the couch as quick as she can, my mom makes sure she is not near the creature.  Owen races back in his room like he’s doing his mile run in school. Finally, with a little shove my dad opens the door and makes Zoey go outside. A few minutes later Zoey comes back in the house without a possum in her mouth. We turn on the outside lights to see if the possum is in our yard, and it is. Next thing I know is that my dad is going outside in the dark with a shovel so he can move the possum out of our yard. In about 30 seconds my dad is inside and out of breath. I ask him what happened and he says that the possum was playing dead and once he put the shovel under the possum the possum opened its eyes. We turned on the outside lights again and the possum was gone. “I guess the possum ran away.” “That was scary”, my mom says. and for the rest of the night no one let Zoey lick them.
