The Newly Discovered
Hey my animal loving friends, guess what, I've just discovered a new and amazing creature and now I’m going to share it with all of you, but first let me tell you how I discovered it! So it all started when I was on vacation in Florida looking for some of my favorite animals… snakes! So I decided to go on a hike in the woods. As I was walking in the woods I saw a bush shake so I went to check it out. When I saw the creature I knew it was unlike any creature I ever seen before. Just then did I realize that I had discovered a new animal! With its skunk like appearance and its gray blue stripe I decided to name it...The Blue Striped skunk! In this article you will get to know all about the Blue Striped skunk and all its amazing adaptations that this amazing creature has!
The Blue Striped skunk can be found in South America all the way to the bottom of North America. It lives in forests and can sometimes be found in some certain mountains and mountain ranges. The Blue Striped skunk has allot of adaptations for helping it survive in its environment. its first adaption is its amazing digging power for digging burrows to either hibernate or to have babies. The Blue Striped skunk has amazingly sharp claws and they are also curved so it makes it easier to dig.It uses its back legs to kick back the dirt that it scoops up with its claws. Then it goes down the tunnel it made and digs a little chamber part at the end to hibernate, sleep, hide, or give birth to babies. It is very warm underneath the thick forest floor so it is good to have babies because they need to keep very, very warm in order to have healthy babies.
The Blue Striped skunk doesn’t eat very much, In fact it only eats 2 things! It eats berries and this might seem very surprising but it actually eats poison Ivy! I don’t exactly know why yet but I think it’s because all of the strong predators it has so if it eats it then it will die.The Blue Striped skunk has tiny little paws for grabbing the berries and poison ivy. They also have very strong hind legs for what I mentioned earlier, kicking up dirt and also for standing up on them so it can reach the berries that might be up on high bushes and, Oh! also I forgot to mention that it eats the berries not only on the bushes but also the one that fall from the really high trees so it makes it easier to get its food.
Sadly though, the Blue Striped skunk has a lot of predators for such an amazing creature. Its main predators are: foxes, bears, wolves, mountain lions, and big owls such as The great Horned Owl, But it has three amazing ways of defending itself apart from the poison ivy. First it does a handstand and hisses showing its sharp teeth. Next it repeatedly pulls back its sharp claws, making dirt fly up. Then If the warning doesn’t work then will shoot a poisonous liquid from its mouth, aiming at its enemies eye, hoping to blind its predator. Then the Blue Striped skunk can walk away being left in the piece and quiet.
Wow! now that is one amazing creature! I hope you enjoyed hearing about the Blue Striped skunk and remember If you're in the woods and you see an animal in the woods that kind of looks like a skunk but it has a gray-blue stripe on its back and it has A bigger nose then Its not a skunk, It's a Blue Striped skunk, oh and also If you see it do a handstand then just back of and give It some space and It won’t spray you because I’m sure that you do not want to get blinded. So again I hope you enjoyed hearing about the Blue Striped skunk and I will see you all later.
