Snakes are a very interesting animal to study. With their physical characteristics, their diet and their many species, snakes have a lot of information one can learn. Read on to learn more about snakes!
These are the physical characteristics about snakes. All snakes don't have eyelids.These reptiles have jaws that can expand so the snake can swallow animals that are bigger than itself.Snakes have ears that are inside the snakes body,that means snakes have internal ears.A snakes body is covered in scales,these scales come in many different colors.A snake’s tongue is very different than ares a snakes tongue is in the shape of a fork or a spear.One species of snake,the rattlesnake, has a special rattle in its tail that warns enemies that they are here so they don't get stepped on. A snake’s skin is smooth and dry. A snake’s skin is like a shirt. When the snake starts to grow out of it, the snake sheds its skin. W hen a snake sheds its skin, it takes about 5 days from start to finish.
Most snakes have a very large diet. Small snakes like tree snakes and garter snakes eat small things like mice and insects.Larger snakes like pythons eat larger animals like fish,birds,mice/rats,and other snakes.There are two different types of snakes: venomous snakes like black mambas,cobras,and vipers use their deadly venom to stun and kill their prey.The other kind of snakes are called constricting snakes.Constricting snakes like boas and pythons rap around their prey and suffocate them.
There are over 3000 different species of snake all over the world except Antarctica.Most of the venomous snakes live in places like forests and dry places like Africa. Africa is home to some of the most venomous snakes in the world including cobras, mombas and other seres venomous snakes.The forest also has extremely dangerous snakes.One snake that lives in the forest, The Eyelash Viper is one of the most toxic snakes in the world. One bite from an Eyelash Viper could kill an adult human in just few minutes.
