In football, equipment is important because it keeps you safe from big impacts.  There are a lot of things you need to wear. Some things are heavy and some things are light. One thing is shoulder pads. They keep you from getting hit in the shoulder hard. Gloves can help you catch the football. Sometimes braces are helpful to keep your  injury from getting worse. A helmet protects you a lot. A helmet has things inside it like a chin strap and mouth guard. Another thing is knee pads. Knee pads help you to stay to safe. Another thing is cleats. Cleats  help you to not slip in the grass. They put all of this stuff in the locker room. Those are the things you need to wear for football.
