Four Year Contract for the Dodgers
Excerpt from Baseball
One month later Jackie Robinson got a call from the Brooklyn Dodgers manager. He asked him would you want to be a part of the Brooklyn Dodgers team. The coach said that he will not be able to fight back at the mean coaches and players when they called him mean names and try to hit him with the ball. He needed to work to get food and clothes for his family, so Jackie said yes, but the coach reminded about all of the challenges he would face.
One week later he was at his first game against the Cincinnati Cubs. He got two home runs. They were killing the cubs so the coach of the Cubs was angry and started calling Jackie Robinson mean words and one of his teammates stood up for him. The Cubs coach stopped and the game ended with the Dodgers winning 8 to 0. After the game the Jackie’s coach was glad that he did not fight back and he played a terrific game, getting two home runs.
